Saudi Arabians are highly religious islamic people. Their islamic practices also extend to the government and society, for example when women don't follow the strict islamic dress code they could be arrested by the religious police. Saudi Arabia is also home to Mecca which is the holy land for Muslims and it is a Muslim's duty take a journey to Mecca at least once in their life. Like in Indian culture, many Saudis have arranged marriages. Woman are intended to stay home and take care of the family, like in most cultures around the world, but it is an extreme in Saudi Arabia where a woman MUST stay at home if her husband does not permit her to find work.

The city of Jeddah (pictured to the left) is a modern city in which you can enjoy the beaches on the red sea, and the traditional markets and dishes of the Jeddah culture. While modernized, you can still visit "Old Jeddah" (pictured to the left) which serves as a museum. In historic Jeddah you can see the ancient trade city and ancient buildings made of coral.

Saudi Arabia contains the holiest sight for islam. Mecca is the holy land and has been for thousands of years. Muslims from around the world make their pilgrimage to Mecca everyday which is one of the Five Pillars of Islam. According to islamic tradition the Kaaba (pictured to the right) fell from heaven at the time of adam and eve. It is said to have originally been white but has turned black because of people's sins.
